Hi, everyone! I’m Mikaze! Welcome back to my blog !
What are your memories of favorite snacks with important people in your life?
For example, eating chocolate with cousins, candy or cookies with grandparents, fruits in the morning, etc…
Today, I’ll share with you my memories of some snacks!
This time my blog is shorter than usual, but I will write a longer article next time, so please look forward to my next blog!
I hope that this blog makes you happy and nostalgic when you read it.
1. Bontan-ame
I often ate it when I went on an 遠足 (えんそく: ensoku)
An 遠足 is like a picnic, going to the big park far away from your kindergarten with some teachers and your mum and dad.
I often made てるてる坊主 (てるてるぼうず, teruterubozu) to hang over the window the night before the 遠足!
In general, children make teruterubozu to wish for a sunny day tomorrow.
It looks like a rain fairy. Maybe every rainy season, in kindergartens, teachers make them with the children.
I always asked my mom to pack my bento lunch box with 卵焼き (たまごやき, tamagoyaki) and a potato with a character’s face!
2. Chupa chups and HI-CHEW
My dad stood by the convenience store every time getting small snacks for us.
When I was child, I have liked to look at the chupa chups tower that was on the side of cash register.
What flavor did you like if you ate chupa chups?
I ate the grape ones because it was my favorite flavor when I was kid.
HI-CHEW is a soft type candy, and it has a fruits flavor.
Maybe everyone likes fruit flavored snacks!!
3. じゃがりこ (jagariko)
It is a potato sticks snack.
I don’t always want to eat potato chips, but light potato snacks are better.
In the photo above, starting from the left, the flavors are: potato with butter, cheese, and salad.
I have no idea why they call it “salad flavor” since it doesn’t taste like vegetables…
You should try the left one! You would definitely want to eat it again!
My favorite flavor is potato with butter! It smells like butter!
Recently I have found a normal size container and a big size. I often buy the normal size one for a snack before dinner.
4. ポテトチップス (potato chips)
What’s your favorite flavor?
I think it depends on the country, because some have tastes that are difficult to like.
Japanese people like のり塩 (sea weed and salt, norishio) and konsome.
Personally, I like sour cream and onion!!
Every area in Japan has its own special flavor.
Normally, you can’t eat these flavors unless you go to those areas.
But I’m lucky – I have a chance about every two months at the supermarket near my house!
It sells almost every Japanese prefecture’s flavor!!!!
Probably I like to eat these as snacks while watching YouTube or movies.
By the way, how many grams are the chip bags in your country?
In Japan, the average is 50-60 grams. Is this size small for you?
Do you like to eat the whole thing at once or leave some for later?
Definitely I’m the former!!!
5. パイの実 (snack pies)
I can’t live without パイの実 because I like it the most out of any snacks!
They are bite-sized and full of chocolate chips.
I like to warm them up before eating!! I always buy a big bag for tea time or after work on Friday night lol
I’m overdoing it, but pie makes us happy in the world.
